Biography

Graduated in Sociology and Political Science, Vittoria Laino is a doctoral candidate in Political Studies at Sapienza University of Rome, jointly supervised with the PhD programme in Democracy in the 21st Century at the University of Coimbra. She has worked as a consultant for the Italian Department of Public Administration on the project "OpenGov: methods and tools for open administration", within the framework of Italy's participation in the Open Government Partnership. She is currently collaborating with the Agência para a Reforma Tecnológica do Estado in Portugal, contributing to the country's related open government initiatives. Her research interests concern the analysis and evaluation of public policies, participatory democracy instruments, the institutionalisation of participation, and processes of citizen empowerment. Among her recent works is the book "Al di là del tavolo. Processi partecipativi e co-progettazione: modelli e strumenti", which focuses on participatory processes and on Italian co-design.
