Andréa Abrahão Costa


Biography

Ph.D. in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (2018), with a sandwich period (CAPES scholarship holder) at Université Paris X - Nanterre (2017). Holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (with an emphasis in Sociology) from the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP (1992), a Law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (1998), a postgraduate degree in Sociology from UNICAMP (specialization level), and a Master's degree in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (2004). She is an Associate Professor in the Law Program at the Federal University of Goiás - Goiás Campus and a permanent faculty member in the Master's and Doctoral Program in Law and Public Policies - PPGDP at the Law School of UFG in Goiânia, as well as in the Lato Sensu Graduate Program - Specialization in Public Law at ESA-OAB/GO. She is a member and vice-leader of the Research Group "Heritage, Public Policies and Technology" at UFG - Goiás Campus. She is also a researcher in the Study and Research Group "Civil Procedure, Access to Justice, and Protection of Rights" (GEPC/UnB), in the "AJUS - Administration of Justice" Research Group (UFG), and in the AJUS Group (UnB). She is a certified collaborative lawyer by the Brazilian Institute of Collaborative Practices (IBPC). She has experience in the field of Law, with an emphasis on Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Legal Sociology, and Public Policies. Currently, her work focuses on topics related to Democracy and the Judiciary, Judicial Governance, Administration of Justice, and the effectiveness of judicial protection, as well as Public Policies. She is a member of IACA - International Association for Court Administration - and an associate professor affiliated with the National Council for Research and Graduate Studies in Law - CONPEDI. Her research topics include: conflict mediation, effectiveness of judicial protection, the Judiciary and Administration of Justice, Democratization and Access to Justice, Democratic Governance, Law and new technologies, Judicial Policies, and Court Architecture. She is currently undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Coimbra, at the Center for Social Studies (CES), under the supervision of Professors Dr. Patrícia Branco and Dr. Paula Casaleiro, with a research project focused on court architecture and access to justice.
