Maria Batle Cladera
Biography
Maria Batle is a Communication & Dissemination Manager at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) in Coimbra, working within the framework of the EU-funded research project "IN SITU: Place-based Innovation of Cultural and Creative Industries in Non-urban Areas" (GA no. 101061747). She holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and is currently balancing her work at CES with writing her Master's dissertation in Journalism and Communication at the University of Coimbra. Her academic interests focus on sociolinguistics, dialectology, inter-dialectal relations, language contact, linguistic ideologies, and, more broadly, on exploring the intersections between language and society. These interests have led Batle to present her work at various events throughout 2024, including the VI Jornadas de Ciência da Comunicação at the University of Coimbra, the SemLin seminar organized by the Basque Research Group of Theoretical Linguistics (HiTT), and the International Symposium on Language Ideologies and Attitudes (IDEOLING), hosted by the University of the Balearic Islands.
