Anna Lucia Di Franco
Biography
I am a PhD researcher in International Politics and Conflict Resolution at the University of Coimbra and a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES), funded by a competitive doctoral fellowship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). My research focuses on Peace Education as a structural dimension of peacebuilding within Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS). I examine how educational practices, policies, and pedagogical frameworks contribute to long-term peacebuilding processes, particularly in contexts marked by structural violence, social inequality, and post-conflict dynamics. I hold a Master's degree in International Studies (International Organisations and Cooperation) from the University of Barcelona and a postgraduate degree in Peacebuilding from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with specialisation in Culture of Peace and Peace Education. My academic work bridges theory, policy, and practice, combining critical and post-critical approaches with qualitative research methods. I am especially interested in interdisciplinary and international research environments, European research networks, and collaborative projects addressing peace, education, and conflict transformation. In parallel with my academic trajectory, I bring professional experience in mediation and human rights, having worked within the Brazilian judicial system. Research interests: Peace Education · Peacebuilding · Conflict Resolution · Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) · Education and Social Transformation · Critical Peace Studies.
