Overview

The removal of statues as symbols of powers contested or overthrown by changes in political regimes has been a constant throughout history. In an op-ed, Maria Paula Meneses revisits the experiences of the removal of statues and other colonial icons as well as the production of a new topography as part of the decolonisation of Mozambique.
